| Prague Jewish Town:
The Jewish Town existed in its old form until 1896, when its demolition was started due mainly to hygienic and accommodation reasons on the basis of controversial clearance law of 1893. A number of historically very valuable buildings fell victim to this clearance and of the whole only little remains today. The Old Jewish Cemetery was used for burials from 1439 until 1787 and there is almost 20,000 graves. Significant figures of Jewish history are buried here. For example the Mayor of Prague's Jewish Town Mordechai Maisel, Rabbi of Prague's Jewish Community and Jehuda Low ben Bezalel, better known as Rabbi Low, legendary creator and father of the Golem. The Old Jewish Cemetery is one of the most picturesque and magical places in the world.
The complex of the Jewish Quarter includes the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Town Hall, the Ceremonial Hall and six synagogues:
